Problems with your Apartment?

Apartment Heating Tips

As the weather becomes cooler, our maintenance group is working to keep each apartment comfortable during cooler weather. Here are some tips which, if followed, can insure warmth during the colder months:

  1. Check all of the windows in your apartment to make sure they are closed and locked. Keep the opening and closing of outside doors to a minimum.
  2. Move furniture so that chairs, sofas bookcases, stereo units, desks, and beds are at least eight (8) inches away from the heating convectors. Do not let drapes cover the convectors, because this diverts the heat to the windows and does not let heat out into the room.
  3. You may open or close the damper in the convector, which is operated by the knob on the convector cover. This cover is located just above the baseboard. The only area where you will feel any heat coming from the convector is about a three (3) foot section where the damper control is located. The rest of the convector cover is just used to cover the pipes, and does not furnish any heat (not forced air). Periodically remove the accumulated lint and dust from convector.
  4. Keep window curtains drawn at night for insulation against cold air. Let sun in during the day.
  5. The temperature in your apartment should be approximately 68 degrees F. If you have any heating problems, i.e., the temperature is below 68 degrees F., call the Buckeye Village Office at 292-6561.

OVEN/STOVE OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS

To turn the heat on in the oven or turn on any of the stovetop burners, the following must be done:

  1. PUSH the desire control knob all of the way down.
  2. While holding the control knob pushed down, turn it to the desired direction.

**IMPORTANT**: If you turn the control knob without pushing it down all the way first, you may damage the control, which can be a costly replacement. ALWAYS, push down the control knob before turning it.

** NOTE**: The counter top will be damage/burned if a hot pot is placed on it. Always place a hot pot/pan on a heating pad or on the stove burner only. The counter replacement can cost more then $100.
