Renter's Insurance It always makes sense to protect personal belongings in the instance of fire, theft or other unexpected events that may occur. In order to reduce the financial burden of replacing valuables after a personal tragedy, Buckeye Village residents are strongly encouraged to obtain Renter's Insurance. Here are a few facts about renters insurance: Policies are not very expensive: Depending on the coverage and deductible you may pay approximately $100 for a full year of coverage If you have auto insurance, you may receive a multi-policy discount by using that company to cover your personal belongings with a renter's insurance policy When shopping for a policy that is right for you, consider the total replacement value of items in your apartment, as well as the deductible you choose (usually $250 or $500 per instance) Jewelry and other property that is of very high value may be additional cost to insure (depending on the value of the item) The best advice is to use a phone directory (yellow pages) to call and compare several companies to see which insurance company will be best for your coverage needs* Here are some on-line resources that may be helpful in your search*: http://ohio.gov/Resident/ConsumerServices/HomeServices/Insurance.htm http://www.hud.gov/renting/index.cfm#insurance http://houseandhome.msn.com/insurance/renters.aspx http://apartments.about.com/library/weekly/aa022601a.htm *Please note that OSU does not endorse any specific insurance company
Storage of Items Outside of Apartments Storage of items outside of apartment is limited to barbecue grills and lawn chairs. All other items including living room furniture, toys, vegetable plants, or items blocking apartment entrances will be removed. Items, which can be stored inside, should be stored in apartments or in the basement storage area. If you have a question about an item, please ask manager.
Vegetables Around Apartments Please do not plant vegetables in areas of your apartment. These areas are to be used for decorative flowers only. Because vegetables and non-decorative plants have the potential to attract pests we ask that non-decorative plants are restricted to the Buckeye Village Community Garden.
Proper Disposal of Trash Residents are required to dispose of all trash in the proper manner. All trash is to be placed inside of a plastic bag and then places INSIDE of the green garbage can. If all of the can in an enclosure are full it is the resident's responsibility to locate a can where they can properly dispose of trash. If a resident, family member or guest fails to properly dispose of trash on Buckeye Village property, a $25.00 labor fee will be billed to the student's account.
Recycling There are recycling locations in each court in Buckeye Village. These areas are for mixed paper, aluminum cans/plastic bottles, glass bottles/steel food cans and newspaper. Please do not place trash in these containers.
Mail Some residents of Buckeye Village are leaving "junk mail" on top of the mailboxes instead of taking it and throwing it away in the garbage. Physical Facilities will no longer pick up the mail that has been discarded. In order to keep Buckeye Village clean and attractive we ask everyone's cooperation in this matter. If by chance you receive someone else's mail in your mail box please either put it into the out going mail box or bring it to the Buckeye Village Office so that we can give it to the Mail Carrier. If you are having repeated problems of this nature, please contact the U.S. Post Office at 294-7292 (this is an off campus call so you will have to dial 9 first).
